Epistemology of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)
I have been a member of an interdisciplinary research collaboration between
physics and the humanities since around the year 2008.
See here for the official website.
From 2010-2015, I was co-leader of a DFG-funded project on the ontological and epistemological analysis of the Higgs mechanism in the minimal Standard Model (Ontologische und epistemologische Analyse des Higgs-Mechanismus im minimalen Standardmodell), see here.
Since 2016, I have been co-leader of two projects within the DFG Research Unit FOR 2063: The Epistemology of the Large Hadron Collider, see here for the DFG website, and here for the website of the Research Unit.
- Project A1: The hierarchy, fine-tuning and naturalness problem from a philosophical perspective
- See here for a list of deliverables.
- Project A2: The formation and development of the concept of virtual particles
