DØ-Germany

is one of the two big experiments at the proton antiproton collider TEVATRON operating at FERMILAB (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory) in Batavia, Illinois, USA (near Chicago). A first data taking period (Run I), between 1992 and 1996, has been a great success, leading in particular to the discovery of the top quark.

In the following years the DØ-detector and the accelerator have been upgraded substantially. The second data taking period (Run II) has started in March 2001. Protons and antiprotons collide at a record centre of mass energy of 2000 GeV. The principal goal is the search for new particles. Six German research groups participate in this experiment.
